We’re coming to the end of 2024, so we just wanted to wish all our customers, friends of the community, and those who support us year after year a very happy holiday season! We hope you’re able to make all your wishes come true, achieve your goals, and continue to grow in all aspects of your life. Above all, we hope you’re happy and that you share it with others.
We’re thrilled to have met our goals from the start of the year. We’ve handled the challenges and surprises along the way with the best possible attitude and have enjoyed every moment together.
As we celebrate the Christmas season, we want to thank all of our customers for putting their trust in YITH. As columnist George Matthew Adams once said, “Christmas is the time of year when we open our hearts most easily”. That’s why we wanted to support the #WPGivesAHand initiative once again this year.
We’ll do this by setting aside 15% of our sales from December 23rd to December 29th for charity projects. So, if you made a purchase during this period, you also helped all those organizations we donate the money to.
We’ve picked three organizations, one for each country where we’re based: Italy, Spain, and Argentina.
Rinascendo, in Italy
“Together for those who suffer, together for the weakest”. This is the motto of Rinascendo, an association that Angela Leonardi created after realizing there was a lack of information about her own experience with endometriosis.
What made us choose Rinascendo? There are lots of reasons we could give you, such as the one the organization itself gave: “because we can’t fight this disease alone. We’re here to be that helping hand, that beacon of light for those who need it most. We’re also here to be a voice and a source of strength for those who don’t have it“. We also learned a lot from one of the YITH members who volunteered. It was great to see firsthand how much they appreciate the gifts and food that we were able to provide.
This organization is all about supporting people in need. That’s why they organize events and activities to raise awareness about and take action against violence against women, support disadvantaged children, promote legal rights, assist the homeless, and help women in difficult situations.
All these activities are carried out in places like the Casa del Sollievo, which Angela made into a shelter for women who’ve been victims of violence, or in other places like hospitals. A quick chat can be enough to brighten anyone’s day.
We wanted to make a nice gesture with this organization, but we received the gift when we learned how an NGO like this one works, accompanying everyone who needs it.
Sonrisas Canarias, in Spain
In 2023, Sonrisas Canarias helped almost 14,000 people. This social services organization, based in Tenerife, is dedicated to helping those who need it most and fighting for fair and equal conditions for all Canary Islanders. Simply put, they’re dedicated to making life better for people in our society.
We were lucky enough to get an up-close look at how they work. We made a big food purchase and took it to the organization’s headquarters. We also had the chance to meet Luis Febles, the NGO president, and we had a nice chat with him. Maybe it was at this very moment that we realized just how important it is to lend a hand.
As they say on their website, “no matter the department, the case, or the time of day, every part of our organization always does its best to help others improve their lives and situations.” We wanted to chip in and support the great work they do on the island of Tenerife.
Monte Adentro, in Argentina
We’re also eager to contribute our small part in Argentina, especially to a wonderful civil organization that has been working since 2015 in the province of Chaco alongside the rural communities of the Chaco’s impenetrable region. Monte Adentro is dedicated to promoting and supporting community projects that allow populations to fully develop in their place of origin, in harmony with biodiversity.
To counteract the limitations in the development of rural communities caused by the lack of opportunities in education, health, employment, and infrastructure, this association focuses its efforts on promoting the development of rural communities through socio-community projects.
Their goals are to work with families in rural communities through programs in education, health, trades and entrepreneurship, gardening, and community empowerment. They currently operate in 26 rural communities in the Chaco province, including Tres Isletas, Quitilipi, Pampa del Indio, Castelli, Saenz Peña and Nueva Pompeya.
One of the reasons we chose this foundation is that it is in line with one of the values we value most at WordPress and YITH: the importance of community development. We believe in the potential of community work and its positive outcomes, as well as the importance of the family and the holistic development of a person, regardless of their place of origin.
As the writer Washington Irving said, “Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart”. With that in mind, we’d like to ask you to do something good for others. All these little acts of good will add up to a lot!
A huge thank you to everyone who has shared a little of what they have with the rest of us! And a special thank you to all of these amazing associations that teach us the importance of sharing! 💚
