Andalusia: One of Spain’s most culturally impactful regions, and the perfect setting to host a WordCamp. With its rich history, vibrant traditions, and deep connection to art and music, this enchanting area provided an extraordinary backdrop for gathering WordPress enthusiasts. This time, however, there was a unique twist: we were celebrating the world’s first WordCamp dedicated entirely to tourism and the travel industry. This innovative event highlighted the exciting potential of open technologies applied to the tourism sector, marking a new chapter in WordPress-driven solutions for travel.
With a powerful motto urging us to “Learn – Share – Enjoy” were we off to a grand initiation of yet a new WordCamp experience. As the event kicked off, the excitement in the air was palpable, filled with the energy of eager attendees ready to absorb knowledge and connect with fellow WordPress enthusiasts. The opening keynote set the tone for the weekend, inspiring us with stories of innovation and community spirit, emphasizing how WordPress empowers individuals and businesses alike.
We set up our booth first thing in the morning with our famously loved swag and merch, ready to start an exciting day. Our colorful roll-ups showcased our brand, immediately drawing the attention of attendees as they arrived. Soon, our booth was buzzing with visitors eager to pick up goodies, ask questions, and learn more about our products and mission. Conversations flowed naturally as we connected with everyone from long-time users to curious newcomers, each one bringing a unique perspective and energy.

The schedule offered a truly immersive experience. Alongside delicious recommendations for Spanish cuisine that left us completely satisfied, it featured a variety of talks and presentations that amazed us and provided valuable insights. Topics ranged from tourism APIs and video marketing to SEO for hotels and creative loops for tourism websites. We also explored the importance of rural youth and how to integrate new technologies to support and engage them.
These sessions didn’t just provide us with practical tools; they inspired us to think creatively about how WordPress and open technologies can continue to transform the tourism industry. We left WordCamp Granada not only with new skills and strategies but also with a renewed sense of connection to a community dedicated to innovation and growth. As we look forward to the future, it’s clear that WordPress will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital landscapes of travel and tourism, bridging cultures, and bringing people closer together.
