2017 Paris
2018 Belgrade
2019 Berlin…
Yes, Berlin, one the biggest cities in Europe, one of the top tourist destinations, where every corner can tell a story of the past and of the present, where culture, history, arts and technology coexist, and a city that is constantly reinventing itself for the better!
The biggest WCEU ever
This was the wonderful location that hosted WordCamp Europe 2019, with 2734 actual participants (3260 sold tickets) and an awesome team that put on this event.
The venue, the Estrel Hotel, was big enough to welcome the biggest number of attendees ever in a WordCamp, and still not too big to get lost. Simply perfect. This made it easy for attendees to enjoy the event and move between tracks, from a speech to the other, and visit the sponsors area and the lunch area.
The contributor day was organised in two rooms, with a smart way to spot the right table: WordPress lovers crowded around the tables to contribute to every team of WordPress or simply to do some profitable networking.
As sponsors, we were all placed in one big room right in front of the main track, which made it easy for the attendees to follow the speeches and talk with the sponsors during the breaks.
Actually, it was a common feeling that people were spending time in the sponsors’ area all the time, which means they were interested in chatting with the sponsors and informing about what they can offer through WordPress. Despite that, people crowded the two tracks all the time… how can it be? Did they do the magic?
Well, with more than 2700 participants (the highest number for a WordCamp ever), it’s pretty understandable that people move around and enjoy the event in all its parts.
And among all this, we were also so happy to see that the new T-shirt made by YITH was appreciated as well! Grabbing a YITH T-shirt has become a WordCamp must-have for many attendees. #declarevariablesnotwar
Also, we were given the best assistance as always. We will never be thankful enough to all the great work that organizers and volunteers do every year.
Surprise surprise!
If the contributor and conference days were three full days, the after party was the cherry on top. We were delighted by an amazing concert in the hotel venue and being at the after party was so exciting.
And… even though we were not able to meet him during the conference day, we could steal him a smile and some minutes to chat.
Meeting the founder of WordPress always gets a thrill but it’s so amazing to see how friendly talking to him can be!
So, this was a great event for us, happy and satisfied. The best part of an international event like WordCamp Europe is that you can meet people from all over the world and you always feel at home (or at least, this is my personal opinion). This is the atmosphere that one smells at WordCamps all over the world and particularly during the biggest event in Europe.
WordCamp Europe 2020?
And so, what about 2020? We can’t wait for the next event to come and are very curious to discover what it can offer. But how much will change in one year? Then, we’ll see…
Now all we know is the location of WCEU 2020, so, looking forward to seeing what it will bring! See you all in Porto!
But before Porto…
We can meet at the following events:
