This time we travelled to the north of Spain, visiting the vibrant and historic city of Zaragoza. It was the third time we were sponsoring this event and we couldn’t be more excited to do so once more. We strolled along the Ebro river which divides the two sides of the city centre and enjoyed a marvellous view of the city’s imposing basilica, while trying not to freeze to death. 😆❄️

The event was inaugurated with the Contributor’s day, a day that works as a reminder of the importance of contribution and the gift of open source to the world, of course tailor made for WordPress. We reunited with our friends from the Spanish community and shared some laughs, while working and contributing together. We visited our favourite contribution tables such as the ones for plugins, translations, community or accessibility and got back home with some good ol’ WordPress tips and knowledge. Nonetheless, what the evening had in store for us was also one of the highlights of our trip, as it started to heavily snow while at the event. It was a matter of only a few hours before everything looked as white as Santa’s beard, and felt a rather festive atmosphere all around. Too bad Christmas decorations had been stored 2 weeks earlier really.

The following day was WordCamp’s official day. We were handed a special sponsor’s display from the organizers that we placed on our booth, which felt somewhat like a YITH crown. Our t-shirts were great success, and our loyal customers and close friends stopped by our booth to get theirs, as they giggled with our witty logos. 😉
We were able to enjoy talks with quite challenging topics, such as landing pages as digital marketing strategies, how to control Google Tag Manager, WordPress API, how to create a simple A/B test plugin, equality within WordPress and the importance of the participation of more women as WordCamp speakers.
At closing remarks we shared a very special moment with all attendees, organizers and volunteers with an impactful closing phrase, which went something like: “The happiest of people are not those who receive more, but better those who give more.” And with that, we thank you for yet another phenomenal event and can’t wait to see you at the next one.
