Today we’ve released YITH WooCommerce Wishlist 2.2.12 that, among other minor changes, addresses an important performance issue that was recently pointed out to us.
Dave Hilditch from WP Intense, a member of the WordPress wonderful community, had the chance to test our plugin on a store with a huge number of products, and experienced slowdowns on the wishlist page, when visiting it as a guest user. He debugged the issue, and highlighted a section of the code that needed revision (you can read his original post about the problem here).
Then, he contacted us though our official contact form, and we immediately started the revision process, to make sure that the issue could be fixed as soon as possible and provide our users with the best possible experience.
After less than 24 hours from that, we’re happy to announce that the problem is solved, and a new version of the plugin is out for our users.
Huge thanks go to Dave for spending his knowledge and experience to help the entire community out there, and for giving us the chance to improve our plugin.
An upcoming major release is on its way
On the same subject, we think that this is a good moment to look forward, and we’re very proud to announce that the upcoming new version 3.0 is on its way to be released.
YITH WooCommerce Wishlist has been out for 6 years (!) now with 700,000+ active installations, and we wanted to shake things up with this project.
For this reason, the next major release will feature a big code refactoring that will assure our users that their wishlist plugin is up to date and makes use of cutting-edge technologies, complying at the same time with all WooCommerce standards and guidelines.
Just for the purpose of arousing your curiosity, here is a short list of the features that we will include in version 3.0:
– Unified experience for guests and logged in users
– Add variations to the wishlist
– Add-to-wishlist feature from Shop page
– New options for Add-to-Wishlist button
– New widgets for displaying wishlists
We’ll soon publish our first beta version; in the meantime, we’d love to hear your opinion and suggestions.
Always looking forward to offering you the best wishlist experience out there, for free! 😉
